GRTV Network has tapped Brooke Thomas as VP of national advertising sales. In his new position, Thomas will be responsible for collecting advertisers into pods which focus on a specific category per programming block. Thomas joins GRTV from Paxson Communications.

Gordon Peppars has been named national sales manager at KTLA. In his new role, Peepars will oversee all national sales and research. Prior to his appointment, Peepars served as account executive at the station.

Scott Free Prods. has buoyed Stephen Kent Foster to director of development and has upped Edwin Kasiba to story editor. Foster was previously a story analyst for the company; Kashiba served there as assistant to two senior veepees of production.

Rosalie Joseph has been named VP of East Coast casting for ABC Entertainment. In her new position, Joseph will oversee the casting of all ABC pilots in New York as well as the development of new talent for the network. Joseph joins ABC from MTM Prods., where she was veepee of talent and casting since 1996.

Stan Steinreich has been named senior veepee and director of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide’s Los Angeles branch. Steinreich’s responsibilities include overseeing corporate positioning and reputation management, and financial communications and investor relations. He has previously worked in communications for GE Capital, Hasbro, KPMG, Andersen Consulting and Continental Airlines.

Emme Kozloff has joined Saban Entertainment’s licensing and merchandising division as VP of retail development. In her new position, Kozloff will be responsible for building and managing all relationships with retailers and developing promotions for Saban licensed properties. Prior to joining Saban, Kozloff was with the Walt Disney Co. as senior manager of new business development for the Disney Store, Inc.

Robert M. Hebenstreit has been named veepee of research for Paxson Communication’s PaxNet web, due to bow Aug. 31. Hebenstreit comes to Paxson after spending 16 years with station rep firm Petry Television, most recently as VP and director of research.

Andrew Millstein has been upped to veepee and general manager of Dream Quest Images, the feature film visual effects division of the Walt Disney Co. In his new position, Millstein will oversee all aspects of the company’s daily operations. Millstein was most recently director of visual effects for the studio’s recent film productions.

David Nelson, formerly a senior development manager for Walt Disney Imagineering, has been named VP of commercial land development for Playa Vista, the new community being developed on a 1087-acre site south of Marina Del Rey. Nelson will oversee the design, construction and delivery of all commercial land projects and will assist Playa Vista prexy Peter Denniston in the ongoing negotiations with DreamWorks SKG to bring the studio to Playa Vista’s planned Entertainment, Media and Technology district.

KCRW (89.9 FM) has named Kyle McKinnon the new producer of “Which Way, L.A?” with Warren Olney, the station’s signature public affairs program. McKinnon has served as writer-producer for news and entertainment shows at television stations KTLA and KCAL, in addition to writing and reporting for Tribune New Media Development and The Orlando Sentinel.

David Kneupper has been named president of Soundelux Hollywood. Kneupper is a founding partner of Soundelux Showorks, which specializes in show production and systems for theme parks and special venues. His new responsiblities include overseeing daily operations and all editorial and administrative functions.

Ken Kay has been upped to VP of Direct-To-Home at Showtime Networks Inc. In his new position, Kay will oversee Showtime’s daily TVRO operations in addition to the Direct-To-Home financial operations group. Prior to his appointment, Kay worked as director of businesss planning for the company.

Julie Piepenkotter has been promoted to veepee of syndication research for Buena Vista Television. Piepenkotter, who has been with BVTV since 1989, most recently served as executive director of research.

Michele Ruiz has joined KNBC as a general assignment reporter. Ruiz, a three-time local Emmy winner, has spent the past seven years with KTLA, where she anchored the “KTLA Morning News: Early Edition” and co-hosted the weekly public affairs program “Making It! Minority Success Stories.”

Kate Fishman-Cohen has been VP of development at Curious Pictures, the Gotham-based animation, special effects and commercial studio. Fishman-Cohen will be charged with expanding the company’s entertainment division and working with in-house directors. Prior to joining Curious, Fishman-Cohen was senior producer at the Gotham new media firm Avalanche Solutions.

Janet Kerrigan Daily has been promoted to manager of publicity, primetime series at CBS Entertainment, announced Chris Ender, VP of media relations. Daily, who will continue to report to Terri Corigliano,VP of publicity of primetime series, currently serves as publicist on “Chicago Hope” and “Everybody Loves Raymond,” among other series. Daily joined CBS as a senior publicist in March 1995.

Guy Gagnon has been appointed president of Alliance Vivafilm, Alliance Communications’ Quebec theatrical distributor.Gagnon has just left his position as senior VP of Cineplex Odeon Quebec, the local division of the Toronto-based exhibitor. The hiring of Gagnon is part of Alliance’s strategy to win back its license to distribute pics in Quebec.
