D.C. Comics close to WildStorm deal

Company agrees in principle to acquire publisher

D.C. Comics has agreed in principle to acquire WildStorm Prods. The acquisition could give Time Warner’s D.C. Comics market dominance over main rival Marvel.

Paul Levitz, exec VP and publisher of D.C. Comics says, “We are talking to (WildStorm creator) Jim Lee about exciting ways we can work with him.”

It is expected that the value of WildStorm will be determined by its comic book sales (it reportedly shipped 6.5 million units in 1997).
