MIAMI — Telenovela distrib Coral Pictures has pacted with CBS TeleNoticias to distribute programming from the Latino cable newsnet to broadcasters worldwide.
TeleNoticias already has substantial carriage via cable and UHF outlets in Latin America, but is under the gun to reach operational breakeven by year end and hopes syndie sales will help grow revenues.
Coral GM Antonio Paez estimated he will be able to drum up sales “in excess of $10 million” through the end of the year, primarily in Latin America.
TeleNoticias shows include Larry King-style talkshow “En Directo con Jaime Bayly,” interview hour “America Habla,” entertainment news slot “Mas Vida” and debate show “Polos Opuestos.”
In separate news, Coral closed at the L.A. Screenings the sale of 10,000 hours of novella programming to start-up Spanish cabler Canal Pasion. Coral’s library is largely drawn from sister company RCTV, Venezuela’s No. 2 broadcaster.
