Former Nickelodeon Movies exec Alan Dinwiddie will become senior vice president of worldwide marketing at the Columbia Motion Picture Group.
Dinwiddie will report to Bob Levin, Sony Pictures Entertainment prexy of worldwide marketing.
Columbia Motion Picture Group is SPE’s new banner housing all of its motion picture activities, including film studio Columbia Pictures, distrib arm Sony Pictures Releasing and homevideo and other ancillary operations.
Col has been undergoing a restructuring of its marketing department, in an effort to better coordinate its global theatrical, homevid and TV businesses.
Dinwiddie’s appointment follows that of Christine Birch as senior vice president of North American theatrical marketing at the beginning of the month (Daily Variety, Sept. 10). Birch will oversee the launch of the studio’s pics in the U.S. and Canada.
Dinwiddie has worked as VP of marketing for Nickelodeon since 1995. Prior to that, he had a five-year stint as VP of marketing for Buena Vista.
