Clearview adds 10 screens

Company now area's pre-eminent exhib

Clearview Cinema Group announced Thursday that it has closed on the 10 screens in Morristown, N.J. it recently agreed to buy from AMC Entertainment.

A. Dale Mayo, CEO of the Chatham, N.J.-based Clearview, said the acquisition increases to 50 the number of screens the movie-theater consolidator now operates in Morris County, thus making it the affluent area’s pre-eminent exhibitor.

Mayo also announced plans for refurbishing the screens’ site: The lower level will include a fireplace and elegant furnishings for more mature moviegoers, while the upper level will be designed for children.

Clearview Cinema now operates 179 screens at 38 theaters, primarily in New York City’s more upscale bedroom communities.
