Shareholders approve Loews merger

Shareholders in Cineplex Odeon Corp. voted Thursday to approve the company’s merger with Sony Corp.’s Loews Theaters, Cineplex said.

The merger, which will create the second-biggest exhib in the U.S., Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp., is yet to receive regulatory approval. Cineplex said it expects the deal to close in the second quarter.
