NEW YORK — Tom Calderone, a consultant from Jacobs Media, will become MTV’s senior VP, while Patti Galluzzi, senior VP, talent and music, and Ken Benson, VP, music programming, have left the musicvid channel.
The moves are part of a change at MTV that will result in 20 staffers leaving the channel and roughly 20 people being hired, according to an MTV representative.
“It’s a small restructuring,” said the MTV rep. “Ratings are up, and it’s a good time to take a look at the business and make sure we’re functioning in an efficient way. We eliminated a few positions and added some. The work force remains about the same.”
Calderone, who will join MTV in October, will report directly to Brian Graden, executive VP, TV programming. Previously, Galluzzi and Benson reported to Graden.
Michelle Dix, VP, music and talent programming, also reported to Graden. Dix will now report to Calderone.
The highest level staff changes are being made in MTV’s music department, but shifts are occurring across most of the network’s divisions.
The restructuring is limited to MTV. Sister channels VH1 and Nickelodeon will not be affected.
