Erin Simon has been promoted to vice president of development at Tom Arnold’s Universal-based Clean Break Prods. and will oversee development and production of all TV and feature projects.
Simon has worked with Arnold since 1995 when Clean Break was at Fox, and she has been the exec in charge of Arnold’s WB network sitcom “The Tom Show.” She also has worked on the films “Touch,” “McHale’s Navy” and the Showtime film “Sorrow Floats.”
With Simon in her new position, Arnold plans to up the company’s series and telepic production pace.
“I have always been impressed with Erin’s eye for strong material,” Arnold said. “She also likes to do lunch and schmooze a lot, so I know she will be very successful.”
“The Tom Show” is Arnold’s fourth sitcom turn, following collaborations with his ex-wife Roseanne on “Roseanne” and “The Jackie Thomas Show,” and his CBS series “Tom.”
“I think we’ve turned the corner on my new show qualitywise, but it’s interesting that the first show I starred in, ‘Jackie Thomas,’ was the 14th-highest rated show on TV when it got canceled, and this might finish 114th, but there’s a pretty good chance it’ll come back,” Arnold said.
