AMC adds 3rd Japan plex

16-screen theater planned for Nagoya suburb

TOKYO — AMC Entertainment Intl. plans to build its third multiplex in Japan — a 16-screen theater in the Nagoya suburb of Shinsei.

The multiplex will have 3,050 seats and is scheduled to open in spring of the year 2000. The project is the first for AMC on Japan’s main island of Honshu.

The theater will be located in a major shopping center that also serves the central Japan city of Gifu. The shopping center, which draws about 5.6 million visitors a year, is undergoing an expansion, and the multiplex is one of the projects added to the plans.
