The Writers Guild of America has announced its call for entries in television and radio categories for the WGA Awards. Submissions, which are due no later than Sept. 15, will also be accepted for the Paul Selvin Award.
TV categories are longform original, longform adaptation, episodic drama, episodic comedy, comedy/variety series, comedy/variety music, awards, tributes, specials, documentary script, news scripts, daytime serial and children’s script.
Radio categories include documentary, radio drama/comedy and news script.
The Paul Selvin Award is an honor that is “presented to that member whose script best embodies the spirit of the constitutional and civil rights and liberties which are indispensable to the survival of free writers everywhere and to those whose defense Paul Selvin committed his professional life.”
The WGA will also offer an award for on-air promotion writing. All entries must have been first broadcast between Sept. 1, 1996 and Aug. 31, 1997. Winners will be announced at the WGA’s 50th annual awards ceremony in 1998.
