After three months in the latenight trenches, freshman syndie strips “Vibe” and “The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show” both have ratings to crow about this week.
“Vibe” notched a 21% hike in the first national syndie ratings report released since Sinbad took over as host last month. As indicated by significant gains in the local metered markets, Sinbad’s entry boosted the national number for Columbia TriStar’s latenight talker to a 1.7 from a 1.4.
In Nielsen’s individual market survey, Buena Vista TV’s “Wayans” scored on the demographic front in a number of major markets during the October ratings period. On KTTV Los Angeles, “Wayans” boosted the station’s showing with women 18-49 and men 18-49 by 33% and 40%, respectively, over the sitcom reruns the station aired in the timeslot in October ’96.
In Atlanta, “Wayans” was the clear winner in head-to-head competition with NBC’s Jay Leno and CBS’ David Letterman in men 18-49 and men 18-34.
