TV panel gutted in scandal’s wake

The head of South Africa’s Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), Harris Gxaweni, has been suspended, and seven of nine IBA councilors have resigned.

The moves follow a damning report by the country’s auditor-general on financial mismanagement and fraud within the IBA. Among those who resigned were IBA co-chairs, Pieter de Klerk and Sebeletso Mokane-Matabane.
