Powerhouse French broadcaster TF1 is setting up a permanent office in L.A. to strengthen its ties with Hollywood in the film and TV businesses.
TF1 USA will track the film and TV industries, establishing contacts at all levels, analyzing projects and developing film acquisitions and co-productions.
Maurice Leblond, who has been the point person for co-finance ventures with the U.S. on behalf of TF1 Intl., will be CEO of TF1 USA.
Leblond was actively involved in the co-finance negotiations with Universal for “Casino” and with Disney for “George of the Jungle,” as well as with German and British partners on other TV and film projects.
The only other French TV heavyweight with offices in L.A. is pay TV giant Canal Plus.
