Telepictures Prods. has inked a multiyear renewal of its exclusive overall production deal with talkshow veteran Cathy Chermol.

Chermol is said to be the leading candidate to serve as executive producer on a new talker Telepictures is developing with former “Hard Copy” correspondent Diane Dimond. A Telepictures spokesman declined to comment on specific projects.

Chermol served as executive producer during the past season on Telepictures’ talker “In Person With Maureen O’Boyle,” which was not renewed for a second season.

Chermol joined Telepictures in 1992 as executive producer on “The Jane Whitney Show” following a 15-month stint as a producer on “Sally Jessy Raphael.”

Before moving onto the national TV scene, Chermol worked as a producer for numerous local TV stations, including KPIX San Francisco, WBZ Boston, WCAU Philadelphia and WTAE Pittsburgh.

For Telepictures, Chermol’s credits also include one season as exec producer of “Carnie” and a stint in New York as supervising producer of the magazine strip “Extra.”
