Syndie ‘Witz’ gets OK for 2nd season

“Kwik Witz,” the syndie comedy gameshow from Cleveland-based indie Beau & Arrow Prods, has a new lease on life and a new host.

Beating the odds against startup distribution outfits, Beau & Arrow has renewed the weekend latenight show for a second season on stations covering about 65% of U.S. TV households, including NBC O&Os in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Jillian Hamilton, formerly a correspondent for Fox Broadcasting Co.’s “Fox After Breakfast,” will replace Andi Matheny as host this fall.

The quirky half-hour show pits standup comics against one another in a series of improv rounds. “Kwik Witz” has shown enough promise to land the coveted post-“Saturday Night Live” slot on a number of NBC affils, including KPNX Phoenix, KUSA Denver and WLWT Cincinnati.

Hamilton is repped by Nicole Taylor of Abrams-Rubaloff & Lawrence.-
