NEW YORK — Sports agent David Falk has joined forces with black-oriented showbiz company Space Station TV to broker the production of theatrical movies and made-for-cable pics geared to the urban, ethnic market.
“Our goal is to become the market leaders in packaging and developing content that would be compelling to urban audiences,” said Bob Townsend, SSTV president and chief operating officer. He will run the new company, to be called New Urban Entertainment.
SSTV will own 50% of NUE and Falk Associates Management Enterprises will own the other half. Falk’s clients include Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning and Allan Iverson, all of whom are star players in the National Basketball Assn. Falk was an executive producer of the “Space Jam” theatrical featuring Jordan and Ewing.
