Sky Mexico has slashed prices to levels in line with those of rival Galaxy Latin America.
To date, Galaxy’s DirecTV has been the leading DTH provider in Mexico, but Sky executives maintain they have been closing the gap.
Sky Mexico took out ads in weekend papers announcing that its prices were “lower than ever.” The company, in which local partner Televisa has the biggest stake, just held its board meeting last week.
Sky Brazil recently lowered its prices, and saw an immediate uptick in subscribers.
Sky Latin America is a consortium of News Corp., Televisa, Brazil’s Globo and TCI.
