HONG KONG — Performers and programs from Singapore dominated the shortlisted nominees for the Asian Television Awards ’97, announced Thursday at Mip Asia.
The awards in 23 categories will be handed out Jan. 20 in Singapore.
Now in its second year, the awards attracted 668 entries, double the number judged last year. Entries for the for-Asians, by-Asians awards came from 15 countries, and represented 150 broadcasters and independent producers.
The contest is organized by Television Asia magazine.
The Television Corp. of Singapore scooped the most nominations, with 23, including three for its popular comedy series “Under One Roof.”
Filipino producers also scored well, with eight nominations for ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. and seven for GMA Network.
