ABC has decided not to pick up any more episodes of the Saturday night Steven Bochco drama “Total Security,” sources said, while CBS has ordered the back-nine episodes of its Tuesday drama “Michael Hayes.”
Starting Jan. 17, “Total Security” is expected to be replaced by a set of rotating newsmagazines, including “Turning Point,” which was ordered as a backup, “Peter Jennings Reports” and John Stossel specials.
ABC would not confirm that a decision on “Security” had been made; CBS confirmed that it had picked up more episodes of “Michael Hayes,” but not the number.
A decision is expected to be made soon on CBS’ “Dellaventura” and sources said the web may pick up a few more episodes. ABC is also expected to make decisions on the future of “C-16,” “Nothing Sacred” and “Cracker” as early as today.
“Hayes” is the second-highest rated new drama in homes with an 8.2/13, and its adults 18-49 rating is a 3.1. “Security” has averaged a 4.7/9 in homes and a 2.6 in young adults.
