Polygram TV brings ‘South’ Stateside

Polygram TV has pacted to distribute domestically the offbeat Alliance Communications drama “Due South,” 22 originals of which are being produced for the syndie market beginning this fall. The series aired for two seasons (1994-96) on CBS.

Series is being made available to the U.S. market on a barter basis, with a seven-minute local/seven-minute national advertising barter split.

For the show’s third season, star Paul Gross — who plays Royal Canadian Mounted Police Constable Benton Fraser — also will write several episodes and executive produce. His sidekick David Marciano leaves as a regular for the third season in favor of Callum Keith Rennie (who will portray Chicago detective Stanley Kowalski.)

Marciano will appear from time to time as Detective Ray Vecchio.
