SYDNEY — Major Aussie producer-distrib Beyond has at last put an Oz program onto U.S. primetime network TV.
“Dangers of the Deep” will air on “Dateline NBC” this month, focusing on the adventures of renowned underwater filmmakers Andrew and Liz Wright in Alaska and the northeast region of Australia. The special is one of a series of nine one-hour docus exploring the world’s oceans and sealife aboard the Quest, a research and expedition craft owned by U.S. entrepreneur Ron Rivett.
“As far as I am aware, no other Australian production company has produced a TV program for primetime broadcast on a U.S. network,” said Mikael Borglund, managing director of Beyond, which retains world distribution to the series and special.
The show has yet to be sold in Australia.
