TV comedy veteran Eddie October has signed on as co-executive producer of King World Prods.’ upcoming syndie talkshow with Roseanne.
October will serve as the day-to-day showrunner for the fall 1998 entry, which has been christened “The Roseanne Show.”
Exec producer titles on the show, co-produced by Roseanne’s Full Moon & High Tide Prods., haven’t been sorted out yet, but Jeff Wald, Roseanne’s manager, is also co-executive producer.
October has spent the past four years as supervising producer of NBC’s “Later.” His other TV production credits include specials for HBO and Showtime featuring such comics as Billy Crystal, Garry Shandling, Dennis Miller, Dana Carvey and Janeane Garofalo. He was an associate producer on Shandling’s ground-breaking Showtime sitcom, “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show.”
“He’s a brilliant guy with tremendous ideas,” said Andy Friendly, King World’s executive VP of programming and production. “He knows how to work with comedians. He knows how to supervise writers. He knows how to do a five-day-a-week interview show and stay on budget.”
To date, King World has cleared “The Roseanne Show” on 68 stations covering more than 65% of U.S. TV households.
October is repped Howard West of Shapiro-West & Associates and attorney Jared Levine.
