Nick grows in Latin America

Net now reaches 5 mil in region

BUENOS AIRES — Nickelodeon Latin America has more than doubled its multichannel distribution since launching in December 1996.

The 24 hour kidvid network now reaches 5 million cable and satellite homes in Latin America, making the network the fastest-growing channel in the region, according to Taran Swan, general manager of the network.

Nickelodeon, which launched in November in Brazil on TVA, has sealed carriage with all principal cable and satellite systems in the region.

In Argentina the contract with the Clarin Group’s Artear provides access to more than 1.7 million homes. Nick will launch in Chile at the end of this month.
