David Nichols has been named executive producer of NBC’s “Caroline in the City” for the upcoming season, sources said.
Nichols was most recently co-executive producer of ABC’s “Grace Under Fire,” which received a large 25-episode backup order. Nichols is replacing departing executive producers Dottie Dartland, co-creator of ABC’s upcoming sitcom “Dharma & Greg,” and Tom Leopold.
Nichols’ deal was cut by Ken Neisser, VP and head of TV lit at the Gersh Agency.
Fred Barron and Marco Pennette will remain executive producers of “Caroline” while they head NBC’s new sitcom “Union Square.”
Separately, Carsey-Werner has hired Tom Straw as exec producer of “Grace” for next season, replacing Tim Doyle, who’s now exec producer of ABC’s “Ellen.”
