NBC on Wednesday announced that Sam Neill, Isabella Rossellini, Rutger Hauer, Martin Short and Helena Bonham Carter will star in NBC’s miniseries “Merlin,” which is set to air during the May sweeps.
Production begins in Wales Oct. 27 on the four-hour miniseries about the magician in the King Arthur fable. The mini will also shoot in England and Scotland. Neill stars as the hero Merlin, while Bonham Carter plays Morgan Le Fay and Rossellini plays Merlin’s love interest Nimue. Short plays a gnome and Hauer stars as the wicked Lord Vortigern.
The Jim Henson Creature Shop is handling special effects, and Hallmark Entertainment’s Robert Halmi Sr. (“Gulliver’s Travels” and “The Odyssey”) is executive producing once again for NBC. Dyson Lovell is producer and Steve Barron directs from a screenplay by David Stevens.
