MSNBC drops ‘Edgewise’

NEW YORK — MSNBC has canceled “Edgewise,” a weekly show featuring reporter John Hockenberry. The series, airing at 8 p.m. Saturday (with repeats at 11 p.m. and at 8 and 11 p.m. Sunday), “hasn’t performed as well as we’d like,” a spokeswoman said, amid disappointing ratings overall for the year-old cable news service.

She cited the difficulty of “getting traction” for a weekly show on the network and properly promoting it for a difficult Saturday timeslot. Hockenberry will continue to report for the “Dateline NBC” newsmag.
