MGM Domestic TV is pulling its planned talkshow strip with thesp Meshach Taylor from syndie contention.
Leo’s plan had been to tape the hourlong talker at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. Taylor is known for his supporting roles on the CBS sitcoms “Designing Women” and “Dave’s World.”
But with several high-profile talkshows in the works for 1998, MGM was unable to secure enough daytime slots to give the Taylor show a fighting chance.
“The station environment just isn’t right for this show right now,” said MGM domestic distribution prexy Sid Cohen.
MGM struggled through the 1996 launch of a short-lived talkshow, “The Bradshaw Difference,” with a station lineup that included many weak, early ayem timeslots.
