“Saturday Night Live” veteran Jon Lovitz is developing a new ABC sitcom at Disney created and executive produced by “Working” and “Cybill” veteran Mike Langworthy for fall 1998.
Lovitz had previously developed a Disney sitcom with writers Al Jean and Mike Reiss, who worked with Lovitz on the Fox series “The Critic” and who are now executive producing the ABC “TGIF” sitcom “Teen Angel.”
While the first Lovitz project failed to materialize, the comedian recently reupped his Disney deal through the end of March, and he’ll try again with Langworthy, a supervising producer on NBC’s Wednesday sitcom “Working.” Lovitz has a pilot commitment from ABC and Langworthy has a script commitment from Disney. The new project is still in the script stage.Prior to “Working,” Langworthy was a supervising producer and a producer on CBS’ “Cybill.” Lovitz is best known as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” and the voice of “The Critic,” but he also has appeared in several features, including “City Slickers,” “A League of Their Own” and “Big.”
Lovitz is repped by Endeavor, and Langworthy is repped by UTA’s Sue Naegle and attorney Jeff Blye.
