‘Kickboxer’ kicks off new All American era

A new era for All American Television begins this month with feet of fury. The new syndie hour “Kickboxer & the Kid” is the first show to bow under the Pearson All American banner.

All American, distributor of the hit syndie skein “Baywatch,” was acquired for $515 million in October by British media conglom Pearson.

“Kickboxer & the Kid,” targeted for a fall bow, will be exec produced by Rick Husky. Husky’s past TV production credits include the CBS Chuck Norris starrer “Walker, Texas Ranger” and ABC cop show “T.J. Hooker.”

The series stars martial-arts whiz Jeff Speakman as Jack Cody, a former federal lawman who’s now a mercenary with a heart. His sidekick is a 17-year-old prodigy who was once wrongly imprisoned. Pearson All American will be pitching the series to TV station buyers at the upcoming National Assn. of TV Program Executives syndie sales confab in New Orleans.
