Vet femme fatale Sally Kellerman is taking a slightly different career path for the Yuletide season: She’ll be playing Mrs. Scrooge.
The central humbugging character in Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” is getting a gender switch for “Mrs. Scrooge: A Slightly Different Christmas Carol,” a Channing Prods. film set to roll next month with Susan Scalan helming for producer Michael David Lawrence.
In this version, set in the contemporary gay community, the now-female Scrooge is educated by three spirits about the dangers and realities of AIDS and homophobia. All proceeds from the film will benefit the Names Project and other AIDS organizations.
Kellerman is also set to star opposite Bob Hoskins and Robert Loggia for director Jean Pierre Marois in “Live Virgin,” from Paris-based Vertigo Prods. It begins shooting in and around L.A. in January.
Kellerman’s agent, Adena Feldmann-Chawke of Innovative Artists, and manager Ed Goldstone brokered the deals for the thesp.
