KCBS gets ratings boost in news at 11

When KCBS’ 11 p.m. news won the Nielsen ratings race four consecutive nights (May 11-14), it was the first time the station had managed to do that (excluding those weeks it followed the Olympics) since November 1983 — 14-1/2 years ago.

The station lost on Thursday to KNBC, which benefited from airing behind NBC’s mega-rated “Must See TV” lineup. But KCBS is clearly having its best 11 p.m. sweeps showing in several years with a news diet heavy on investigative reports.
