Kayser new Premiere chief

BERLIN — German premium channel Premiere announced Thursday that managing director Bernd Kundrun is to be replaced by Ferdinand Kayser, the Luxembourg-based media manager. The move will take effect immediately.

Kundrun, who has headed Premiere for 3-1/2 years, will become a board member in the newspaper division of Bertelsmann publishing arm Gruner & Jahr.

The announcement follows speculation in the German press and reports last month that Leo Kirch wanted Kundrun removed.Kirch and CLT-Ufa have since come to an agreement over the channel, deciding to split the paybox 50/50.

Permission from the monopolies commission and media authorities to allow the two giants to share the station is still pending.

Kayser has been with CLT since 1985, working in various branches and most recently oversaw TV business outside of Germany for CLT-Ufa.
