The NBC O&Os are talking with King World Prods. about partnering on a live morning show, probably fronted by WNBC’s genial weatherman Al Roker and a female co-host.
The show would be designed for the O&Os as a lead-out to NBC’s “Today” and distributed nationally as a syndie strip in the “Live with Regis & Kathie Lee” vein by King World. Sources familiar with the talks stressed that NBC and King World are far from a deal, but conversations continue.
Roker, also the voice of weather on “Today,” has been with WNBC since 1983. Reps for King World and NBC declined comment on the matter, but when asked about the possibility of a King World-NBC partnership, NBC’s new O&O prexy Scott Sassa would only say, “I love (King World chairman) Roger King.”
