Huffington tries Comedy

Arianna Huffington, the conservative Republican wife of former Senate candidate Michael Huffington, has signed a talent/development deal with Comedy Central that’s expected to result in the production and delivery of a series pilot by summer.

The proposed half-hour political satire being tailored to Huffington will blend topical humor and guests to examine issues in the news and in political circles.

Long a favorite guest of Bill Maher when “Politically Correct” aired on Comedy Central, Huffington made her real mark on the Time Warner/Viacom cabler last year when she supplied the right-wing counterpoint to Al Franken’s liberal bent during the network’s “Indecision ’96” presidential campaign coverage.
