Vondie Curtis Hall (“Chicago Hope”), Jeremy Piven, Darius McCrary, Keith David, Bernie Mac, Loretta Devine, Donzaleigh Abernathy, Lou Rawls and Ron Leibman have been cast alongside lead Ving Rhames in the HBO Pictures biopic “Don King: Only in America,” which is lensing in Los Angeles.
Film, which stars Rhames (“Pulp Fiction,” “Rosewood”) as the colorful and notorious boxing promoter, is slated for a November debut on HBO. It chronicles King’s rise from Cleveland street kid to the upper echelon of the pugilistic hype game.
John Herzfeld (“2 Days in the Valley”) directs from a script by Kario Salem, which is adapted from the Jack Newfield book “Only in America: The Life and Crimes of Don King.” Thomas Carter executive produces. David Blocker produces.
