Grodin goes for year four

Charles Grodin has inked a deal with CNBC to continue as host of his nightly “Charles Grodin” hourlong talkshow for a fourth season.

“It’s been a unique forum for me,” Grodin told Daily Variety on Tuesday. “It’s really been a phenomenal experience. It’s never been a lark for me, and I hope this underscores that.”

Grodin continues to indicate that this is what he’d like to do for the rest of his life. He does not miss acting, he insisted.

“In fact, it seems odd to me that somebody like me who has so much to say spent 30 years of his life pretending to be someone else,” Grodin admitted. “This is the direction I should have taken in the first place.

“I have respect for my body of work, but I’m a guy with too much to say to be just an actor. Why should I spend my life saying someone else’s words?”
