PARIS — Joined the growing ranks of Gallic kid-themed channels, Fox Kids Network on Friday officially announced its Nov. 15 France launch.
The net will run on the Canal Plus digital platform Canal Satellite. Current projections estimate the weblet will reach more than 650,000 subscribers by the end of the year. Future deals with basic cable operators to carry Fox Kids also are in the works.
The past year in France saw the arrival of the Disney Channel, rounding out a field that includes Canal J, TPS’ Teletoon and AB Sat’s ABCartoon. With each net trying to find its niche, the field is getting crowded.
But Fox Kids Europe managing director Ynon Kriez said, “Our team in France has worked hard to put together a look that is innovative and will appeal to our audience.”
Fox Kids Europe also announced Friday the appointment of Marc-Antoine d’Halluin as managing director of Fox Kids France. D’Halluin previously was director of corporate development for Europe at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
