AMSTERDAM — Modern Times Group (MTG) has signed an agreement with 20th Century Fox Television Intl. that gives it exclusive rights to all Fox film and TV product in the Baltic States.
The deal involves several hundred hours of product, including “The X-Files” and “Millennium.” It is believed to be the largest deal ever done by the Baltic States with a studio and the first deal Fox has signed in those three territories.
MTG owns a 49% stake in TV3 Estonia and an 86% share in TV3 Lithuania. It has sublicensed the Fox rights to Latvia’s major public broadcaster LTV.
Ignas Scheynius, president of MTG acquisitions, said the group is on the hunt for more studio product to feed its Baltic States channels.
