Universal Television has inked a multiyear comedy development deal with writer-producer Mark Driscoll.
According to sources familiar with the deal, Driscoll signed a two-year, $4 million pact with an option for a third year.
“Mark’s a gifted writer who works well with talent and is a great show-runner,” Universal Television president Tom Thayer said.
Driscoll currently is executive producer of the ABC series “Ellen,” which is produced by Walt Disney’s Touchstone Television. He has been with “Ellen” since 1993 and worked as a co-producer until 1995.
Before that, Driscoll was a writer for NBC series “Someone Like Me” and “The Good Life.” Before entering the TV biz, he was an interpreter.
Driscoll’s deal was brokered by Endeavor.
