MEXICO CITY — Speakers lined up for the Jan. 22-24 25th anni meet of the North American Broadcasters Assn. include Federal Communications Commission international bureau chief Don Gips, European Broadcasting Union president Albert Scharf, and Emilio Azcarraga, CEO of Mexican media giant Televisa.
The gabfest will give members the first chance to examine together the FCC’s new technical standard for high-definition digital TV, which was announced late last month. Officials expect the conference will set the tone for discussion of the standard in years to come.
Conferees will discuss implementing the transition from analog to digital, North America-wide interoperability, and satellite and wireless standards.
The nonprofit org is made up of 21 U.S., Canadian and Mexican broadcasting entities, its newest member being Mexico’s No. 2 broadcaster TV Azteca.
