Columbia TriStar TV Distribution is developing a syndie reality strip with the working title “AXN,” sources say.The half-hour show would revolve around slam-bang, action-packed footage culled from movie and TV stunt outtakes, homevideos and a range of other sources. The project is being groomed for CTTD by Studio City-based GRB Entertainment. GRB produces a number of similarly themed programs, including “Blastmasters,” “Movie Magic” and “Storm Warning!,” for cable’s Discovery and Learning channels. Reps for CTTD and GRB declined comment Wednesday on the “AXN” project. The show could be targeted for a fall 1998 syndie debut, but studio sources stressed that the project is still in the development phase and no final decisions have been made. “AXN” (as in “action”) also is the name of an action-adventure entertainment channel launched earlier this year in Asia by Col TriStar parent Sony Television. It was unclear Wednesday if the proposed U.S. syndie strip would have any connection, other than its working title, with the Asian channel.
