COLOGNE — CNN Intl. unveiled the German-lingo news program CNN Deutschland at the Media Forum confab in Cologne on Monday.
“For the first time in Europe, CNN is broadcasting in a language other than English,” Chris Cramer, VP and managing editor at CNN Intl., said.
CNN currently has a Spanish-language news program in Latin America. “If the German programming is well received, we will transfer the model to other countries,” said Cramer.
CNN Intl. is producing CNN Deutschland together with Duesseldorf news agency DFA. The 15-minute news program covering domestic and international events replaces the World News at 7:30 p.m.
The German-lingo show debuted on Monday in the state of North Rhine Westphalia, and will be extended to other areas of the country.
