CBS plans to air a two-hour telepic next season about Alex Kelly, the convicted rapist who spent eight years living the high life in Europe before turning himself in.
Kelly, 30, made headlines when he fled the country in 1987 on the eve of his rape trial with funds provided by his wealthy parents. In July, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the 1986 rape of a 16-year-old neighbor.
The Kelly story will be produced for Atlantis Films by Ed Gernon and Graham Flashner from a script by Joe Cacaci. Production begins in September.
