Fox Broadcasting Company’s senior vice president of longform programming Trevor Watson is negotiating his exit from the network, sources say. Fox had no comment, and Watson did not return phone calls, but sources say Watson is still under contract and is in talks to secure a release. Rumor has him heading to a small production company, where he’d be president.
News of his possible departure have many at Fox worried that inhouse made-fors will be drastically scaled back. Most of the movies that air on Fox are theatricals anyway, but word on the street is that the network may produce only four made-fors inhouse next year, while buying four more from outside producers.
Two other networks have canceled movie nights next season, though it’s too early to put made-fors on the endangered species list: Movies and made-fors are the first things plugged in when regular series tank.
