Steven Bochco Prods. has inked an exclusive, three-year overall deal worth an estimated $1.5 million with Paris Barclay, who will produce and direct ABC’s “NYPD Blue” next season.
Barclay directed two episodes of “NYPD Blue” this past season and received a DGA nomination for directing an episode of NBC’s “ER.” Next season, he’ll produce all 22 episodes of “NYPD Blue” and direct five episodes.
Bocho, David Milch and Mark Tinker remain executive producers. Tinker is the top director-producer, and Milch and Bochco are the main writer-producers on the cop drama, which returns in its slot Tuesdays at 10 p.m.
“I’m thrilled because the show is so well-written,” said Barclay, who was repped by Bill Douglass at William Morris and Steve Lovett Management.
Before the Bochco deal, Paris directed the Miramax feature comedy “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice In the Hood.” He’s also written and directed several movies for cable TV.
