MEXICO CITY — TV Azteca has been seducing talent away from Televisa for several years now, but it announced its biggest catch to date Wednesday with the signing of top thesp Claudia Ramirez.
Ramirez has inked to co-star with Demian Bichir in cop-themed novela “Demasiado Corazon,” to be produced by Azteca-affiliated Argos Television.
Ramirez’s latest novela, “Te Sigo Amando,” is Televisa’s biggest hit of the year, and culminated on May 2 with a household rating of nearly 40 points.
Best known in film circles as the co-star of Alfonso Cuaron’s Mexican hit “Love in the Time of Hysteria” (Solo con tu Pareja), Ramirez has also acted in 13 novelas.
Headed by journalist-turned-producer Epigmenio Ibarra, Argos was responsible for Azteca’s biggest novela success to date, “Nada Personal.” “Corazon” is designed as a sequel to that project.
