ABC has decided not to pick up any more episodes of its TGIF comedy “You Wish,” sources said Wednesday.
The sitcom, produced by ABC’s parent studio Disney, is the lowest-rated show in the Friday family lineup. Season-to-date, “You Wish” has averaged a 7.1/13 in households. Originally the show aired at 9 p.m., but last week it was moved back to 9:30 p.m., where it suffered its season low (6.2/11).
“You Wish” will air for the first few weeks of sweeps, but it will be preempted at least once, on Nov. 21, for a special. Sources say Disney’s other new TGIF sitcom, “Teen Angel,” will get picked up.
In total, ABC’s TGIF block is down 17% in households from last season, in part because CBS stole two of its veterans, “Family Matters” and “Step by Step,” for its own Friday family block.
