ABC, A&E ink ‘Bio’ pact

NEW YORK — ABC News has agreed to produce 40 hours of original profiles for A&E’s flagship series “Biography” over the next two years.

The deal ramps up an already active co-production alliance between the two partners: ABC News has contributed about 40 episodes to “Biography” since 1994. ABC owns 37.5% of the A&E network. (Hearst also owns 37.5% and NBC the other 25%.)

Among the new “Biography” subjects ABC News will tackle are James Earl Ray, Thurgood Marshall, Wayne Newton, Leni Riefenstahl and Nelson Rockefeller.
