Kenneth P. Wong has been boosted at Walt Disney Imagineering, which oversees development of theme parks, retail stores and regional entertainment facilities. Wong will continue to hold the title of WDI president. He succeeds former chairman Peter S. Rummell, who resigned to become chairman and CEO of St. Joe Corp., a real estate concern in Jacksonville, Fla.
Wong reports to Marty Sklar, vice chairman and principal creative exec at WDI.
One of Wong’s recent tasks was oversight of the committee that won approval for Disney Studios’ 20 year master plan. Included in this plan were the feature animation building and the Frank Wells building, now under construction.
Wong joined the company in 1991 as senior VP of Disney Development Corp. In May 1995, he became exec veepee and general manager of WDI, and last May became president of WDI when it merged with Disney Development.
