Jonathan Estrin and Shelley List will receive this year’s Valentine Davies Award at the Writers Guild of America Awards.
The award will be presented to Estrin at the WGA ceremonies on March 16. Posthumous honors will go to List, who died in May.
The award honors those “who have contributed to the entertainment industry and the community at large and have brought dignity and honor to writers everywhere.”
Estrin and List for many years wrote as a team and produced through their company, List/Estrin Prods. Their credits included “Something So Right” (CBS), “Amazing Grace” (NBC), “Barbara Taylor Bradford’s ‘Remember’ ” (NBC), “Between Friends” (HBO) and “Danielle Steele’s Jewels” (NBC).
They were supervising producers on “Cagney & Lacey”(CBS), co-executive producers on “City” (CBS) and co-creators and executive producers on “Sisters” (NBC). They won one WGA award, two Golden Globe nominations, one Emmy nomination and a CableACE award.
Estrin and List did extensive field work throughout the world as volunteers in Third World countries and as board members of Operation USA, a relief and development agency.
Individually, Estrin has been a creative consultant on the CBS series “EZ Streets.” List was creator, writer and co-producer of “And Baby Makes Six” (NBC) and “Baby Come Home” (CBS).
Last year’s recipient was Mike Farrell.
